Wilkinson Sword

Since 2015, Wilkinson Sword GmbH

is part of the Edgewell Personal Care Group and is represented worldwide with various products. In addition to shaving products, this also includes care products (sun cream, hygiene products, etc.).

The history of Wilkinson Sword:

The company was founded by Henry Nock in London in 1772 and began as a manufacturer of firearms.

In 1818, the company was renamed James Wilkinson & Son, under whose name the production of swords began.

In 1889 the company was renamed Wilkinson Ltd.

The first razor was produced in 1903.

In the 1930s, the company Osberghaus KG, based in Solingen, launched a stainless steel razor blade on the market.

Wilkinson Sword GmbH was founded in Solingen in 1961 following a long-standing partnership between the companies Osberghaus and Wilkinson Ltd.

Coatings have always played a decisive role in the development of razor blades at Wilkinson Sword. The introduction of the Teflon-coated blade was just the beginning. An innovation in 1992 was the Protector, the first razor with protective guards. Building on this, blades with a special carbon coating were developed. This coating not only ensures longer durability but also improves shaving quality, as it allows the degree of sharpness to be adjusted for a close and comfortable shave. A further development took place in 2006 with the Quattro product, which was launched on the market with a titanium diamond coating.
