Contract research in consortium, focused and lean

In the collaborative projects, a member institute develops an interesting research topic for participating partners.
The topic is application-relevant and is financed exclusively by the contributions of the participants.

Project contribution per partner: 10 – 20 T€,
Target number of partners: 5 – 7

Secrecy

A cooperation agreement regulates the use of the results. Project results are basically intended only for the partners involved. Company-specific results are treated confidentially.

Joint project idea: "Non-stick surfaces"
Non-stick coatings on 2D and 3D substrates

Motivation:

  • Replacement of classic fluorine-containing coatings as well as release agents and Teflon spray solutions
  • Total solutions are necessary – combination of surface structure and coatings
  • Generation of functions such as Easy-to-clean, also for the realization of short cleaning cycles

Objectives:

  • Investigation of different surface structures, treatments and coatings for non-stick properties
  • Evaluation of process chains e.g. embossing, printing, structuring in combination with functionalization and coating processes at atmospheric and low pressure

Tasks:

Development of possible process chains for demonstrator production, determination of material parameters, pretreatments and subsequent processes, suitable coating processes, characterization of surfaces

PDP 4.0 - Plasma Diagnostics for Plasma Processes 4.0

Motivation:

  • Intensity measurements and / or
  • Compositions and/or
  • Acquisition of generator characteristics and resulting gas atmospheres

Target:

  • Process data evaluation for follow-up projects Plasma 4.0
  • Ensuring process stability
  • Reduction of process times (resource efficiency)

Tasks:

  • Plasma process data monitoring, additional measurement of ion density, comparisons of mass spectrometer measurements
  • Langmuir probe
  • Optical emission spectroscopy

Project start: 01.10.2022
Duration: approx. 6 months

Joint project idea "Plasma Carbon Footprint
Carbon footprint for plasma coating processes

Motivation:

  • Industrial scale technologies: sputtering, PACVD or plasma diffusion (selection of a process)
  • Life cycle inventory: mass and energy flows, process times, surface area, coating thickness
  • Process modeling in LCA software with environmental databases
  • Output of carbon footprint and CO2 reduction potentials

Objectives:

  • Calculation of the CO2 balance for plasma coating/treatment processes
  • Development of a software tool with input mask for process/plant parameters (first selection)

Tasks:

Recording and evaluation of status quo, definition of scope, first tool development, visualization of results

Project duration: approx. 12 months
Contribution per partner: 9,000 € plus. VAT
