Anti-reflex coatings on glasses, cold light mirrors at the dentist or transparent, electric conductible coatings for displays and solar cells- coatings with special optical attributes are omnipresent.


The coating systems have to deal with a lot of conditions at the same time, i.e.: transparency and a high refractivity, precision on the area of nanometre coeval with scratch resistance, high adherence despite of essential flexibility, consistent attributes during changing temperatures.


Not only static operating figures like colour, reflexion, transmission and absorption but the possibilities of changing those optical attributes play a master role: shiftable by electricity - coatings which reflect the visible light by pushing a button, shading or milky dimming of glass panes.


The workgroup "optical coatings" deals with those and similar problems. New topics for this group are collected currently.
